At Pirate BJJ in Madison, Alabama, we're thrilled to offer specialized Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu classes tailored for pre-teens aged 10 to 12. Our program provides an exciting opportunity for young grapplers to delve into the world of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, mastering essential techniques while building camaraderie with their peers in a supportive environment. Led by our fearless instructors, our pre-teen classes focus on the fundamentals of grappling and rolling. Children learn a variety of techniques, including arm bars, side mounts, and our favorite turtle position, as they explore the intricacies of controlling and submitting their opponents. They also delve into spider guard and closed guard, mastering the art of defense and offense from various positions on the mat. But Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu isn't just about learning techniques—it's about developing valuable life skills that will serve children both on and off the mats. Through structured drills and exercises, pre-teens learn the importance of discipline, focus, and perseverance. They master hip escapes, also known as shrimping, as they learn to create space and escape unfavorable positions. They perfect their bridging technique, using their hips to generate power and create opportunities for offense or defense. As they progress through our program, pre-teens develop not only physical skills but also confidence and resilience. They learn to set goals and work tirelessly to achieve them.
